FMEA and
FMECA analysis
Sabaton is an analysis tool supporting FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis). FMEA and FMECA are typically used in product and system development to reveal possible failures and failure modes, and the effects of these failures. The analysis results typically in proposals for design improvement aimed at eliminating system failure or mitigating the effects of component failures. With Sabaton you simply start a new analysis by selecting analysis form template, or you make your own fully user-defined form. Sabaton supports you in conducting FMEA and FMECA analyses according to international standards such as ISO 9000, SAE J1739, SAE ARP5580, IEC 60812, BS 5760-5 or MIL-STD 1629.

Fault tree analysis and construction
CARA-FaultTree is our tool for fault tree analysis and construction. A fault tree is a logical diagram that displays the interrelationships between a potential critical event (accident) in a system and the reasons for this event. By constructing a fault tree you analyse how a system can fail, and the analysis also gives you insight in how the components contributes to the system reliability.
With its intuitive graphical user interface, the program lets you create fault trees in a flash. A total of six system performance measures and six measures of component importance are available, along with enhanced report utilities. All in all, CARA-FaultTree is the product of choice for supporting fault tree
analysis.

Reliability Data for Safety Instrumented Systems
- PDS Data Handbook, 2006 Edition |
 |
The PDS Data Handbook is the ideal companion when doing
reliability analysis of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). The
reliability data in the handbook are well suited for reliability
analyses according to IEC 61508. The data of the present 2006
edition includes updates of the previous 2004 Edition. The update
includes, among others, a general update of models and taxonomy
according to the updated PDS method; new values for the updated
common beta factor have been given; new and updated values for test
independent systematic failures; for dangerous undetected failures
estimates for the fraction of random hardware- and systematic
failures have been given; a general update of some of the failure
rates and coverage values. The handbook also gives a short review of
the PDS method. The PDS Data Handbook is published by
SINTEF, and is
distributed by Sydvest.

Reliability Prediction Method for Safety
Instrumented Systems
- PDS Method Handbook, 2006 Edition |
 |
PDS is a method used to quantify the safety
unavailability and loss of production for safety instrumented
systems (SIS). The method accounts for all types of failure
categories; technical, software, human, etc. The PDS Method
Handbook, 2006 Edition, gives an updated version of the PDS method.
IEC 61508 has become the main standard for specification, design and
operation of safety instrumented systems. The PDS method is in line
with the main principles advocated in this standard, however
presenting some alternative approaches, e.g. to the modelling of
systematic failures. The PDS Method Handbook is published by
SINTEF, and is
distributed by
Sydvest. |
